In the Nick of Time

This year our family decided to draw names. We would have one year (or so we were supposed to) to get gifts for the person we had. My mom made stockings for everyone this month! I couldn't believe it. It is crazy how fast time flies by. I should have been packing away gifts throughout the year so I was more prepared!

Today I got my sister's gift together (I had to mail hers). Well I had 5 minutes to get to the post office and mail her package! Lucky me I made it there just in time.

What stalled me... well we are suppose to add something to the stocking each year. Eventually it will have all these little things attached to it, making it an heirloom.

So I made my sister a snowman ornament. She wont be able to use it, only because it is supposed to stay on the stocking. So I made it and quickly finished it up (today) just before I drove to the post office and ran inside with the package.

The PO man laughed at me. There was tape hanging off of the package. Ha Ha! I told him I was in a hurry and that I didn't want to miss the chance to mail it off.

Well I wanted to show you the ornament I made...
Here is my amigurumi snowman.

This is my very first softie!! Whoo Hoo... Go me!! >.<

Lucky me I had just read a tutorial earlier this month that futuregirl has available on her blog. She also has a tutorial: Embroider on Felt that I plan to try out. If I had more time I would have implemented the idea with this ornament.

I really love how the little guy turned out! I plan to make more just for my tree... yes, it will probably be for next year.

On June 19th, I made my daughter Natalie a hat. She is always wearing some kind of hat around, so I thought it would be fun to make this one.

This hat is called "Spunky Popcorn Hat". I found the pattern for free on this site. I change it a little to make it a bit more frilly.

Of course I am sure I will be making more hats for her.

I have made a couple other things and I will post them soon.

I hope you enjoy the "Spunky Popcorn Hat".

Gift from the Heart

I recently took an online workshop to make a celebration pincushion/bear. It was given by Berta of ThReAdTeDs.

The Picture above shows my completed version of the pincushion bear. The workshop also gave instructions to complete a full body disc jointed bear.

Berta is a great teacher and I had a wonderful time learning how to make the pincushion. I gave it to my mother for a Mother's Day gift.

Berta also has great patterns on her website. If you click on ThReAdTeDs you will be able to visit her site.

Sigh

Ok so I am not very good at blogging. I am sure it takes time and maybe I will get it. We have been so busy lately. Preparing for a wedding that is this Wednesday. I am somewhat excited about it, but in another way I have mixed feelings. It is in Denver and I absolutely hate driving in Denver. So I guess we will see how that goes.

I am 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant today. I have an appointment on Tuesday. I just did the Alpha Feta Protein test almost 2 weeks ago. So now we discuss the results. Of course it said if there was a problem they would call. So everything is looking good.

I think I have been on a crocheter's bear block. I really want to make one, but for some reason I just have not sat down to do it. It could just be because we are busy.

Starting here soon... my husband and I are going to be watching a little boy. He is 7 months old from what I remember my mom telling me. He sure is a chunky little guy! We will have a full house this summer. My son is out of school, so that means there will be 5 kids in the house. Maybe it is an initiation? Ha Ha! At least it is giving us a taste of what it will be like with 5 kids around.

Off to eat breakfast.

The Lighthouse

My bears may be sold in a store!

There is a Christian book store in our town, owned by a couple that goes to our church. It is called "The Lighthouse". Well I was just told today that the owners would sell my bears in their store! I am so excited!
